Yamaha RD 350

I found a couple of old Advertisements from the RD 350 when they were being sold in india. The bikes still have a cult following in india and is still the fastest bike in this country. The prices are really unbelievable and some are at a 70% higher markup than compared to when the bike was originally launched in india in the late 80's.

This first Ad below was very controversial for its time. Considering the real conservative nature of most Indians, but this AD was really the one that made it big.

India win 10th gold

Wow what a day it has been for india today in the asian games 2010. This time the medal comes from boxing, Vikas krishnan has taken the victory by five points to four.
I am simply amazed by the results that have come in today. Simply wow, it seems like vikas had a very defensive approach and took the points by simply hitting and dodging. Vikas Krishnan gets the gold in the men's 60 kg boxing bout. Here is the breakup of the points scored, at the end of the first round it was 1 - 1.

india win 9th gold

Wow what a time the athletics contingent from India is having.
I got reports that India won its 9th gold in the Mens 400 m hurdles, Clearly the coach is doing something right, GANAPATHIPLACKAL ABRAHAM Joseph does it this time and hey it was a good timing too. He clocked his seasons best of 49.96 and was way ahead of his rivals, though by just a nose length :)
Go India, further details can be found here India 9th gold in the Asian games

Gold number eight

India win their eight gold of the asiad 2010 in china.
This time the gold came in the 400M hurdles.
AKKUNJI Ashwini Chidananda , never heard of her before but i guess the media is going to go visiting to see the place where she was born :) , which is good news atleast it is not the usual cricketers bestowed with the media presence and advertising riches.
Yahh for India. She clocked 56.15 her personal best.

Here is the official link India 8th gold
It looks like we will finish with at least 15 gold. Now that is nice :)

India did the impossible by beating Singapore by a score of 4-1 in the Asian games. Singapore are ranked much higher, whohoo this is really good news, all i could dig up were the goal scorers. I dont have much information will post up as soon as i find out more. But as usual Indian media channels are not even bothered to cover this? I hope later in the day India play well against Iraq, this is the senior team playing Iraq in Dubai. All the best.
The scorers in order

1-0 Sheikh Jewel Raja (13')
2-0 Balwant Singh (64')

red waterfall in the antarctic

When the glaciers are bleeding red into the ocean, wow never heard of this before and it is fascinating. Signs of the revelations slowly coming true? I had heard of the red rain that happened in kerala a few years back, but the indian media did not cover that story, this one is equally baffling but there seems to be an explanation for it.

Gareth Bale bigger than Beckham

Wow what a performance again from gareth bale of Tottenham. He once again made inter milan look like a school team. Time and again maicon from brazil was made to look like a kid. What explosive pace and speed from gareth bale.
Especially the third goal by tottenham was all mr bale work.
I think all european clubs are now going to go after him in the transfer window.
I guess one left winger replaces a legend from wales. Mr giggs you have a new partner in crime.

How to land a software job

This is one of the most hilarious stories i have ever heard. Sometime some people get lucky and work hard to stay where they are, but some just ride their luck too long.
I also happen to work with a colleague who was atrocious and did not know the abc of said technology. When i started digging around it seems that the guy wasn't even interviewed by the team who hired him.

Yamaha RD 350 Drag race

How champions are formed and how old ones are beaten, the RD 350 in the video is ample proof of it, new boys from DAM racing in bangalore handing legend baban khan a good spanking.
This is also the new national record in india for bikes in the 350 CC category. Anthony is riding the bike and it is blazing fast and not to mention scary too. Also the legend was handed a bad beating, his is the bike trying to catch Anthony. Baban, Nissar sorry your time is up.

How is india football , soccer doing

So the Indian team currently training in Portugal from the past 3 months has had a good outing so far, in all i think they lost 2 matches of the 9 scheduled.
Sunil chettri getting on the score board is definitely good news along with NP pradeep, i still remember his rocket strike for India in the Nehru Cup in 2007 against Syria. Here is the link to that fantastic goal Video of the Goal
I don't know the quality of the Portuguese opponents so far , have they been playing first string teams or are they of a second string opponents? The media hasn't been covering this at all, it is a shame on you guys.
So the results so far , at least from what i know.
India vs Desportivo Monsanto 6 -2
India vs Sertanense FC 3 -2
India vs Uniao Desportiva da Serra 3 - 1
India vs Mafra 0 - 1
India vs Atletico 1 - 0

I am a big fan of Bob houghton and his coaching style. The AIFF the governing body rejected the coaches plan of not playing against against Namibia, Gambia and Turkmenistan as part of the national team’s preparation for the Asian Cup in January. I think in hindsight maybe the coach feels the opposition wont send their best teams and that is why he felt that playing UAE club teams would be much better.
I do tend to agree with the coach here. I think the AIFF is a bunch of fools, i also read that they wanted to play some matches in orissa? i dont understand why wont they play in the big metros where people will come to support the team at least this way we will get more and more fan base to support our team.
Only time will tell.

Indian Football and the asia cup

I really hope that the indian football team does well at next years asian cup in doha QATAR. The team is in training in europe playing second and third division Portuguese teams. I guess to be fair most of Asian quality except for Korea and Japan is on par with the second and third division sides of Europe.
This years world cup is evidence of that where none of the middle east teams like Iran or Saudi Arabia made it.
I think Houghton the national coach has missed a trick here he should have chosen some of the U-19 stars who are playing real well just to bleed them in an international arena.
There are a couple of suspect players in this national squad people like Sushil singh, who has absolutely no talent as was evident during the SAARC cup in Bangladesh. I would have liked it if he had taken Jeje who played well during that tournament.
Abhishek Yadav is another player who has a lot of potential but seeing him play reminds me of how lazy he has been, he hasn't done anything at the club level also.
Good luck India, i hope we come back with some respect.

A pea sprouts in the lung

A man, who the doctors suspected to be suffering from a cancerous tumor, is found to have a pea sprouting inside his windpipe.

"My blood pressure was very low. My oxygen count was very low. I was dehydrated, my left lung collapsed, and I had pneumonia," 75-yr-old Ron Sveden from Brewster told the Herald.

After an X-ray showed a spot on Sveden's windpipe, Cape CodHospital doctors thought the retired teacher was suffering from a cancerous tumor. "Prior to Memorial Day I was going down hill," Sveden said. "My appetite went away and I was coughing a lot. I just had this listless feeling where I just wanted to lie down. I had no ambition to do anything."

After samples were tested, doctors told Sveden that the spot was not cancer but a plant sprouting inside him. It seems Sveden had been eating peas, one went down the wrong pipe, then grew to an inch-and-a-half in his lung, collapsing it. Through surgery they removed the plant and Sveden's health improved.

"Thankfully it's all over," he said. With a good sense of humor and new outlook of life he deals with friends and family affectionately calling him "pea brain" showering him with cans of peas and bags of seeds.

See the video its amazing

Diseases in modern times

Looks like the swine flu virus is back, is this the new face of influenza that wiped out 100s of millions in the 1920 and 1930, i think most goverments are hand in glove and not talking about it.
Every rainy or winter season it seems the virus is getting stronger. I dont remember falling constantly sick. Or is it that the civic agencies are not doing their job?

And what is most worrying is there have been 83 deaths this year so far due to the disease being reported in the week ending August 8.

Maharashtra reported the maximum number of 51 deaths, 12 were reported from Karnataka and 6 from Andhra Pradesh.

Seven deaths were reported from Gujarat and one each from West Bengal, Goa and Uttar Pradesh.

Till date, samples from 1,54,259 people have been tested for influenza H1N1 in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 36,240 (23.4%) of them have been found positive.

This is worrying trend and if you add the new mosquito borne diseases like dengue, chikungunya and malaria it is hard to keep your self safe.
Stay safe, dont ignore the smallest problem and see your doctor.

God Save Hockey

Okay so i am talking about Field hockey and the game in India.

A nation of one billion people and 7 times Olympic champions and once world champion.
I am not sure how the game is progressing at a grass roots level there are only 13 Astro-turf in the country and of that how many are functioning the way they should with school kids being involved.

Now comes with the news that Hockey INDIA just finished their elections and elected an 83 year old woman who looks like Indira Gandhi. Stokes' close ally Narinder Batra also defeated Gunjam Haider of Hockey Arunachal 41-18 for the secretary general's post.
i don't understand the reasoning of this and i feel it should have been ex Indian captain Mr Parghat singh.
This being India, i really hope that people who voted for Mrs stokes took the future of the game at heart and not some side dealings. One can only hope though those days are too numbered it seems.

Why i say this is that in all probability the Supreme court of India would rule that the Indian Hockey Federation is the official ruling body and not Hockey India.

Here is more after the jump.

Viva Espanol

Wow what a match, Spain totally dominated Germany on the 08 of July 2010. Yes and for once on a football field i saw spain united, the way they played was so reminiscent of the way spanish clubs play and this game was missing from the national team for so many years. The domination was so total that i think spain ended the game with 70 % of the possession and three clear chances.
Loew tried a different strategy and was more defensive but the intricate passing from spain was just too much. To think of a team spending most of their time in the opponents last 25 yards and trying to attack from the center was so reminiscent of latin american teams and it was beautiful to watch.
So the beautiful game has moved away from Brazil to spain or maybe it was spain who took it to brazil through portugal :)
Viva Spain...The octopus was right

Avantalk Hands Free

I bought this device some 6 months back and till date this has been a boon for me. I dont drive a fancy car and now i am really hands free when it comes to driving and talking and the voice is crystal clear. It does have a good range some 5-10 meters, beyond that it loses its clarity. Total worth for the money it costs. I personally feel that this is much better than the headset piece, as it is not in your ear. I some how find it irritating when you are driving miles and have the ear piece.

The best Speakers Yet

These are the best set of speakers that i have listened to. If you are into Rock or Techno or dance music it does serve its purpose. I was very pleased by the sounds that this system generated.
It does have good low pickup and the high range is some what okay but for price this kind it is worth it. The kind of music i listen to is bands like ACDC, Led zepplin, Arman Van buren, Tiesto , Lifehouse, Dream theater, Metallica and they do sound really good.

I took the over night delivery since i wanted to carry it with me when i returned to india and it works perfectly fine on 240 V so i was very happy.
I did compare it with the ZVOX audio but then the hassle of custom agents at the airport is not worth it at all.

Hmm what is that smell, is that your code reeking. Wish you could use a deodorant.
Well i came across this interesting concept while browsing the internet during my time on bench.
See this link below, technical to the touch but explains the fundamentals nicely taking static methods as an example.
